vlt exec

Usage:

$ vlt exec [--package=<pkg>] [--call=<cmd>] [command...]

Run a command defined by a package, installing it if necessary. Also available as vlx.

• If --package is set, that package's bins are used.
• Otherwise, if the first argument is a bin in the local node_modules/.bin, it runs without installing anything.
• Otherwise, the first argument is treated as the package, and its default bin is run: its single bin, or the bin named after the package.

With no command, a shell is spawned with the bins in PATH. Flags for the bin go after --.

Installs go to vlt's XDG data directory. Local node_modules is never changed.

Local packages

A path to a local directory (relative to the current directory) runs its bins in place. Nothing is installed, and its own node_modules is used as-is.

$ vlx .
$ vlx . -- --help
$ vlt exec --package=. other-bin
